Candy and Cole

This is the story of a couple of hunters in Loudoun County who fell in love over 8 years ago, and finally got hitched! The wedding was about as country as it gets, and ridiculously fun.  After a short ceremony held in a quaint little church in Lovettsville (which happens to be the same church Candy’s parents were married in), everyone made their way over to the reception at the Lovettsville Game Protective Association.  Smoked BBQ was served buffet style, jars of homemade jams were scattered on the tables, and a couple kegs kept everyone smiling and having a good time.

All my best to Candy and Cole..may their love continue to grow over the years, and may the years be full of deer, beer, and joyous laughter!

Chris and Allison are getting married!!

You know how sometimes you meet people and there just seems to be an old connection between you, like you’ve been friends for centuries?  That’s how I feel about Chris and Allison. They are, quite honestly, two of the best people I know and, although they live quite far away, I can’t imagine my life without them in it.  I’ve known Chris for about 8 years and finally met Allison a couple years ago.  They are both super fun, adventurous, generous, loving, and just all around amazing people, and it’s so easy to see how they fit together as a couple!

They flew me out to Utah for this shoot which was a whirlwind of a trip.  But, I had been dying to do a photo shoot on the Salt Flats for a long time…so they humored me, and agreed to let me scratch that itch.   I love them!!

I can’t wait for their wedding in September!

Keri and Michael were married in Charlestown, West Virginia, on May 27, 2012.

Plain and simple, this was one of the most touching weddings I’ve yet to witness. The love between this amazing couple is powerful, tender, and fun.  I met them both the day of their wedding and, getting to know them over the course of that day, I remembered what it is that weddings are really about, and that is love. The connection shared, the looks of knowing, feeling, and not needing to say. The absence of anonymity, the acceptance of weirdness, the witness to daily struggles and triumphs.

Words expressed that day brought tears to my eyes and a warmth to my heart to be reminded that true love really does exist, and is so real it’s almost tangible. Thank you Keri and Michael for trusting me to document this day for you, and for making me smile.

Fun fact about Michael and Keri: they met at the University of Connecticut while pursuing advanced degrees in Puppetry. They both currently work as puppeteers in New York City.

Western Loudoun County, Virginia, May 2012.

I met Christina at a little coffee shop in January of last year, and knew as soon as I met her that I would completely love shooting her wedding. She gave me full artistic freedom (which always makes a photographer feel warm and fuzzy) and told me the wedding would be outdoors in October with the reception in an old barn..Love!!

So, on the crisp and sunny 22nd day of October, 2011, long-time sweethearts Christina and Wes were married. The BBQ smoked all day, hot cider was served in Mason jars, burlap lined the tables, the keg chilled on ice, and the guests were a party in and of themselves! Don’t believe me? I feel so honored to have been a part of this memorable day, and here’s how it happened…

Saturday, September 17, 2011:

This is the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. James and Piper Hutson.

The day began and ended at Linden Row Inn, a fantastic historic boutique hotel in downtown Richmond.  Along with Leo Druker (who shot this wedding with me), we got some portraits at Hollywood Cemetery (where James proposed to Piper) before heading over to the ceremony and reception at the Maymont Estate. With a spectacular venue, guests all in costume, and details such as a zombie wedding cake, red brain jello shots, toe tags on guest dining chairs, a trunk full of props, and drippy candles galore, how could it not be a great time?  This wedding was absolutely beautiful, and one of the greatest events I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing.  Congratulations to this amazing couple – and thank you for inviting me to be a part of your joyous day!

Probably the most fun I’ve ever had doing a photo shoot.

Brad and Stacy finally tied the knot! I loved photographing this day for them. In spite of the heat and humidity early in the day, and the thunderstorm that swept into Bluemont right as we started our bride and groom formals, and Brad’s torn Achilles, it was a fantastic wedding! I have known these two for a long time, and there are few couples I believe fit together more perfectly than Brad and Stacy. I have seen their love for each other strengthen and deepen over the years, and I couldn’t be happier for them to start this new chapter in their lives. All my love and best wishes to this fabulous couple!!

The ceremony took place at First Mount Olive Baptist Church in Leesburg, Virginia; the reception took place at Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Virginia.
